Jack Scott, Archeological Illustrator and Calligrapher
Jack Scott, Archeological Illustrator and Calligrapher
A Renaissance man in the 21st century, Jack's education and talents are
reflected in the Image Pilots lettering and logo. Jack's archeological
illustrations are sought by museums and archeologists the world over.
The son of two pianists and music teachers, he went to college with the
idea of becoming an archaeologist...earning a degree with majors in both
anthropology and philosophy from the University of Illinois in Urbana.
He then decided to study flute (with the idea of becoming a jazz player)
and lute with private teachers. He took a calligraphy class at the
Rhode Island School of Design in order to learn how to make good copies
of lute music...and kept doing calligraphy. He managed to get into
doing production artwork in art studios in order to support himself
while he studied music. The art business stuck. All this time he
actually missed archaeology, so he decided to learn pen and ink
technique and become an archaeological illustrator. Luckily, everything
worked (with a few bumps along the road) and he now works in each of
these disciplines. Calligraphy jobs range from membership certificates
to elaborate pieces with gold and many colors. He probably won't ever
get rich at any of this, but it certainly keeps life interesting. |

During her year of study at the University of Cambridge, she traveled around Britain and Europe learning the tastes and holiday traditions of the Old World. She is completed her Ph.D. in English at the University of Chicago where she studied Renaissance food and drink. In her spare time, she entertains her friends with recreations of historical celebrations. |
